Choosing your first dance song can be really tricky, especially if you don’t have a ‘special song’ – or at least a song that would be suitable for your first dance!
Here is some advice on how to choose the perfect First Dance song…
1) Choose something you BOTH like
This is very important as you’ll both have to listen it quite a few times when practising!
2) Check how long the song lasts for
Anything over five minutes is too long! Don’t worry if the song you like is a long one, you can always find a spot to cut it and go straight into the next song or get people up on the floor to join you.
3) Check the lyrics!
Anything mentioning being dumped, someone leaving, unrequited love or being cheated on, isn’t always a great idea, however great the song is!
4) Choose something that suits you both as a couple
It’s a good idea to think about how you want your dance to look. If you are the kind of couple who are always the first up on the dance floor having a laugh, then you should think about more upbeat party songs. Or if you are more quiet and shy, then something slower would probably be better suited!
